25 Apr 1809 call for the trial of a negro man slave named Jerry, the property of a certain John Hardin, charged with the murder of a certain Negro man slave named GEORGE.
"Jerry a negro man slave the property of John Hardin, late of the County of Shelby, not
having the fear of god before his eyes but being moved and seduced by the instigation of
the devil on the 5 April 1809 and with force came upon George, a negro man, the property of John Wood in the peace of God and the Commonwealth then and there feloniously wilfully and of malice aforethought did man an assault on that negro man slave named
Jerry with a certain hoe of the value of one Dollar and held the said Goerge in and upon the middle of the back newar to the shoulders and upon the crown of the head and did strike and penetrate and wound in and upon the middle of the back near the shoulders and the crown of the head and cause mortal wounds...
